Congress Receives Award from the City of London
The Congress of Black Women - London Chapter was selected to be recognized by
the Mayor at the City Council meeting which was held on Monday, November
23, 2009.
This program is coordinated by the United Way of London & Middlesex
on behalf of the Mayor through a Volunteer Selection Committee. The
recognition consisted of a mounted certificate presented by Mayor
DeCicco-Best at a Council meeting to representatives of the community
organization.
The program has been in place since 2002 and recognizes the
important contributions of non-profit organizations and their volunteer
members to the London Community.

The Congress of Black Women, London Chapter commemorated the Bicentenary of The Abolition of The British Slave Trade. Beginning Friday September 14th, through to the 16th, 2007.
This weekend was intended to educate and stimulate our community, as
we reflected on our past, with a keen eye on the future. Events included
a concert by Gospel sensation, Tiki Mercury-Clarke and guest speaker
Royce Kinniebrew, President and CEO of The Kinniebrew Group, which
provides Black History programs for schools and business. The weekend concluded with an ecumenical service,
followed by African and Caribbean treats for the taste buds.

2007 Scholarship Awards Night |

The 17th annual Scholarship Awards Dinner was held on Saturday, June 16, 2007. At the event the Congress recongnized deserving young men and women who received the Kay Livingstone and the Gwen Jenkins scholarship awards this year. The Veronica Dryden Woman of Distinction award as well as the Wole Soyinka literary award were also awarded at this event.
The venue was Huron House Restauran on Huron at Highbury.
