Annual Scholarship Awards. Sponsored by the Congress of Black Women of Canada, London Chapter (Two $500 scholarships) offered to Afro-Canadian Students, from the London-Middlesex area, who meet the selection criteria. Candidates must provide evidence of Academic Excellence, Community Involvement and Financial Need. Deadline for submission of completed forms is May 31, 2010.

2010 Gwen Jenkins Memorial Scholarship | Print |  E-mail

Established in memory of the late Ms. Gwen Jenkins, founding President of the Congress of Black Women of Canada, London Chapter. This scholarship is awarded annually to mature students pursuing post-secondary education. One scholarship valued at $500 is available. Elligible candidates will be a Mature Female student, from the London-Middlesex area, who desires to further her education or who is already in a post-secondary institution.

Applications must be received by May 31, 2010.

Additionally, The applicant:

  1. Must demonstrate evidence of community involvement.
  2. Must have involvement in the Black Community.
  3. Is in need of financial assistance.
  4. Resides in London and surrounding area.
  5. Demonstrates good leadership and communication skills, and has sound personal ethics.

Human Equality Award for extra-ordinary service to our community in the furtherance of human rights. Awarded annually to a young person who has shown extra-ordinary commitment to human rights and the dignity of all persons in the London, Ontario community.

Ontario Black History Society – Pricewaterhouse Coopers Scholarship | Print |  E-mail

The Ontario Black History Society (OBHS) is eager to work with Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) to provide an educational experience for young people.  In cooperation with Pricewaterhouse Coopers, a $1000 scholarship, to be awarded to Black students in their final year of high school. Applicants must aspire to a career, or will enrole in a program, in Chartered Accountancy at a post-secondary institution.

 

Applicants to the scholarship would have to submit a 750 word letter detailing their GPA, academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, community involvement, and reason(s) for pursuing a career in chartered accountancy.  Students would also be required to submit a transcript of their grades, as well as two letters of recommendation (preferably one from a business studies teacher, addressing aptitude for business studies, although not necessary).
