May 30th 2009 Mrs. Donnafaye J Milton spoke to The Congress of Black Women, London Chapter, on the role of Mentoring within the Brescia University College environment. Ms. Milton conducted an information session, in addition to the benefits of becoming a mentor to a newly arrived student or to a local student.

About Donnafaye J. Milton

DonnafayeIn her work as Community Liaison in the office of Marion Boyd, MPP, Donnafaye became familiar with a significant number of community agencies and individuals. Previous to that, 15 years as a Mental Health Counselor enhanced her people skills and expanded her personal passion for social justice, inclusion and equity for ALL of us.

A community activist for over 25 years, Donnafaye continues to take action to bring about change in the world, especially in the areas of women’s rights, peace and respect for each other and the planet. Education includes a B.A. in Sociology and a Certificate in Health Promotion and Education, both from Western.

When Donnafaye was hired for the position of Beyond Brescia Coordinator in the summer of 2003, she was volunteering for 6 different London agencies: AIDS Committee of London, Women’s Events Committee (who plan the three major women’s events each year {Take Back the Night, International Women’s Day and the Memorial Service at Victoria Park on December 6} ,The Cross Cultural Learner Centre, Wild Ginger Organizing Cell [an annual family spirituality camp], The Circle Women’s Centre, and The London Public Library. When Donnafaye tells students about the value of volunteering, she knows what she’s talking about!
